Carlos Lee also contributed for a RBI and a run scored going 1-for-3. J.R. Towles had a RBI in the game as well recording his 10th of the season.
Jack Cassel took the mound for Houston making just his 2nd appearance of the season. He only made his way through 4 2/3rds innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and 2 K’s. He didn’t receive the win for the Astros and now has an ERA of 5.59. Doug Brocail did get the win going 1 2/rds innings giving up just 1 hits striking out 2. The win is his 1st of the season and his ERA stands at a respectable 3.07. Jose Valverde came in to close out the game and did just that getting his 5th save of the season striking out all 3 batters he faced.
Its always good when you can a win from the division leader especially when they are playing as well as the D-Backs. We’ll see if they can take game 3 and the series from Arizona on Wednesday.
