Houston came to the ballpark ready to take a win from the Colorado Rockies and did just that in thrilling fashion. The win brings the Astro’s record to 7-12 this season but keeps them in the bottom of the NL Central.
The offense recorded 8 hits in the game including 1 extra base hit from Miguel Tejada. Tejada had a great game for the ball club going 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and a runs scored. The RBI bring his total for the season to 13 and now has his batting average at a strong .310. Kaz Matsui also had a very good game going 2-for-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. He has looked very impressive in his since making his way back from surgery. Geoff Blum had a strong game as well going 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Shawn Chacon was given the start for the club and had himself a strong game. He work 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, and he struck out 3. His ERA is now at a solid 2.77 but didn’t earn the win. Wesley Wright came in for the 8th inning, when the Astro’s took the lead following the production of 3 runs, and got the fin brining his record to 2-0 this season. Jose Valverde came in for the 9th and received his 2nd save of the year.
Good win for the Astros because it ends the 3 game slide they were stuck in. Hopefully they can put together some wins to climb back in the race for the NL Central.
